Cacao Medicine Immersion
A 7-Day Ceremonial Journey with the Spirit of Cacao
Part 1: Live, in-person immersion in Boulder: May 1st - 3rd, 2026
Part 2: Virtual, self-paced immersion: May 4th - 7th
Welcome to the Cacao Medicine Immersion
In many traditions, cacao is understood as a master plant and entheogen, a substance that brings us into contact with the divine within.
In Amazonian traditions, there are pathways of study with cacao and other master plants known as dietas, where one enters into a committed relationship with a plant in order to receive its teachings and transmissions directly.
This immersion is inspired by both the Mayan cacao and Amazonian dieta traditions I have studied over the last decade, creating an intentional space for you to enter into a deeper relationship with cacao… not just as a ceremonial drink, but as an elder, mother, teacher.
This is not about having a ceremonial experience, or rushing into a certification that gives you permission to facilitate.
This immersion is about learning how to be in relationship with a highly intelligent plant… and with the wisdom, songs, teachings and healings she begins to reveal over time.
Doing this immersion is like planting a seed of cacao inside of your heart, and watering it with your intention, presence, integrity, honesty, and a willingness to be with yourself more fully.
In return, cacao has been known to offer incredible heart opening, grief healing, relational repair, compassion and capacity to hold emotional density, as well as songs, poems, art and even miraculous miracles.
What this cacao medicine immersion is
The Cacao Medicine Immersion is a 7-day ceremonial container that combines a 3-day in-person immersion with a guided 4-day at-home immersion.
3-Day In-Person Intensive
We begin with a 3-day, in-person intensive in Boulder, where we will ceremonially open the container, receive teachings on cacao’s history and cosmology, meet grandfather tobacco, and utilize heart opening practices and rituals passed to me from my teachers.
4-Day Guided At Home Immersion
From there, you’ll enter a 4-day guided home immersion, where you’ll work with cacao each day while moving through the four directions of Mayan cosmology — exploring different stages of life, emotional patterns, and aspects of self.
In-Person Integration Ceremony
Finally, we will come together to share what we’ve learned and received in this intimate, profound time together - whether its a song, prayer, poem, it’s beautiful to see what comes forward as you begin to emerge from and embody this immersion.
Part 1: 3-Day In-Person Intensive
-
Our first gathering is devoted to meeting cacao as a plant teacher, and grounding into this space together.
Participants will experience a ceremonial cacao tasting, learn about the history and cosmology of cacao in Mesoamerica, and begin cultivating a relationship with the plant through intentional preparation and opening ceremony.
Topics include:
The origins and cultural history of cacao
Mayan cosmology around cacao traditions
Ceremonial vs. commercial cacao
Preparing cacao as a sacred practice
-
Our second gathering explores the complementary relationship between cacao and tobacco in traditional contexts.
Cacao is often understood as heart medicine: nurturing, receptive, and feminine in nature.
Tobacco carries the energy of protection, clarity, and masculine structure.
Through teaching and practice we explore the balance of these forces within ourselves and within ceremony.
Practices include:
Intro to tobacco as a medicine
Cacao & Tobacco Ceremony
Reflection on inner masculine and feminine energies
Prayer and intention practices with tobacco
-
The third gathering turns towards our inner heart and its capacity to open.
Through heart-opening practices and ceremony, participants deepen their personal connection with cacao and listen for the guidance the plant may offer.
Practices may include:
Heart De-Armouring practice
Mindfulness & Compassion practices
Journaling and sharing circle for setting intentions for the elemental journey
Participants leave this gathering open and well prepared to enter the next phase of the immersion.
