Cacao Medicine Immersion

A 7-Day Ceremonial Journey with the Spirit of Cacao

Part 1: Live, in-person immersion in Boulder: May 1st - 3rd, 2026

Part 2: Virtual, self-paced immersion: May 4th - 7th

Welcome to the Cacao Medicine Immersion

In many traditions, cacao is understood as a master plant and entheogen, a substance that brings us into contact with the divine within.

In Amazonian traditions, there are pathways of study with cacao and other master plants known as dietas, where one enters into a committed relationship with a plant in order to receive its teachings and transmissions directly.

This immersion is inspired by both the Mayan cacao and Amazonian dieta traditions I have studied over the last decade, creating an intentional space for you to enter into a deeper relationship with cacao… not just as a ceremonial drink, but as an elder, mother, teacher.

This is not about having a ceremonial experience, or rushing into a certification that gives you permission to facilitate.

This immersion is about learning how to be in right relationship with a highly intelligent plant… and with the wisdom, songs, teachings and healings she begins to reveal over time.

Doing this immersion is like planting a seed of cacao inside of your heart, and watering it with your intention, presence, integrity, honesty, and a willingness to be with yourself more fully.

In return, cacao has been known to offer incredible heart opening, grief healing, relational repair, compassion and capacity to hold emotional density, as well as songs, poems, art and even miraculous miracles.

What this cacao medicine immersion is

The Cacao Medicine Immersion is a 7-day ceremonial container that combines a 3-day in-person immersion with a guided 4-day at-home immersion.

NOTE: You may chose to do the full immersion (all 7 days) or do the in-person intensive ONLY or the at-home immersion ONLY.

3-Day In-Person Intensive

Boulder, Colorado | May 1st - 3rd

We begin with a 3-day, in-person intensive in Boulder, where we will ceremonially open the container, receive teachings on cacao’s history and cosmology, meet grandfather tobacco, and utilize heart opening practices and rituals passed to me from my teachers.

4-Day Guided At Home Immersion

At your home | May 4th-7th

From there, you’ll enter a 4-day guided home immersion, where you’ll work with cacao each day while moving through the four directions of Mayan cosmology — exploring different stages of life, emotional patterns, and aspects of self.

Virtual Preparation & Integration

Virtual | April 30th & May 7th

To open and close our container, we will come together to share intentions for our preparation, and for integration we’ll share what we’ve learned and received in this intimate, profound time together as you begin to emerge from and embody this immersion.

The container

This immersion invites you into a more intentional way of living for the duration of the week. In order to deepen your relationship with cacao and reduce external noise, you’ll be guided to simplify both your diet and your daily inputs.

This may include:

  • eating simple, whole foods (fresh, minimally processed)

  • reducing salt, sugar, and heavy or stimulating foods

  • avoiding alcohol, cannabis, caffeine, and other substances

  • Reducing or eliminating other plant medicines and herbs (including tinctures

  • limiting social interaction and external stimulation

  • reducing media consumption, including excessive TV, news, and scrolling

  • bringing awareness to the habits we often use to numb, distract, or avoid

This is not just restriction for its own sake. It is about creating the internal and external conditions that allow you to listen more clearly to the plant, to your body, and to what begins to emerge when your system is less influenced by external stimuli.

This kind of container builds momentum inward, supporting a deeper, more honest relationship with cacao and with yourself.

All that being said, you are always encouraged to listen to your body and honor your own needs.

What this work supports

This immersion is designed to support a deeper relationship with cacao over time. Through consistency, presence, and a more intentional way of living, this work may open:

• A greater sensitivity to your inner world and emotional landscape
• Awareness of the patterns, parts, and protectors that shape your experience day-to-day
• A softening of habitual defenses and ways we numb, distract or avoid, allowing more honesty and vulnerability to emerge
• A deepening connection to the heart and how to keep your heart open as a form of Radical Acceptance
• The ability to sit with what arises without needing to change or escape it - including density, conflict, shadow, fear
• The gift of more direct relationship with the subtle ways this highly intelligent plant spirit of cacao communicates and reveals

Structure of this immersion

This is a 7-day ceremonial container.

We begin with 3 days in person in Boulder, working with cacao through ceremony, teaching, and practice.

Then you’ll continue into 4 days at home, where the work deepens through daily practice and reflection.

This structure is intentional, as it allows the work to support a relationship with cacao as something that can be lived, felt, and integrated over time.

Part 1: 3-Day In-Person Intensive

Friday, May 1st - Sunday, May 3rd in Boulder

This immersion will take place in a private residence in Northern Boulder, Colorado. If you’re joining us, it’s preferred that you’re able to attend all 3 days. This content will not be recorded and cannot be made-up, unless there is a group or 2 or more who cannot make it.

  • Our first gathering is devoted to meeting cacao as a plant teacher, and grounding into this space together.

Participants will experience a ceremonial cacao tasting, learn about the history and cosmology of cacao in Mesoamerica, and begin cultivating a relationship with the plant through intentional preparation and opening ceremony.

    Topics include:

    • The origins and cultural history of cacao

    • Mayan cosmology around cacao traditions

    • Ceremonial vs. commercial cacao

    • Preparing cacao as a sacred practice

  • Our second gathering explores the complementary relationship between cacao and tobacco in traditional contexts.

Cacao is often understood as heart medicine: nurturing, receptive, and feminine in nature.

Tobacco carries the energy of protection, clarity, and masculine structure.

Through teaching and practice we explore the balance of these forces within ourselves and within ceremony.

    Practices include:

    • Intro to tobacco as a medicine

    • Cacao & Tobacco Ceremony

    • Reflection on inner masculine and feminine energies

    • Prayer and intention practices with tobacco

  • The third gathering turns towards our inner heart and its capacity to open.

Through a gentle vision quest with cacao, heart-opening practices and ceremony, participants deepen their personal connection with cacao and listen for the guidance the plant may offer.

    Practices may include:

    • Heart De-Armouring practice

    • Mindfulness & Compassion practices

    • Gentle vision quest with cacao

Participants leave this gathering open and well prepared to enter the next phase of the immersion.

Part 2: 4-Day At Home Immersion

Monday, May 4th - Thursday, May 7th (virtual & self-paced)

After the opening weekend, participants can continue the immersion through daily cacao practice and guided reflections based on the four sacred directions in Mayan cosmology. Each day explores the four directions of the Mayan Cosmology and the symbols and archetypes they represent.

What to expect in this time: You will be invited to continue on a restricted diet to support deep spiritual work and create an altar at home honoring these four directions and this immersion. Each day’s practice will be less than 20 minutes to keep it more easeful in integrating this work into your life.

Please note, this part of the journey, while highly recommended, is optional, and can also be done on it’s own if you don’t live in Colorado, as a virtual offering

  • We will have a preparation call with everyone in the immersion going over all the material on Thursday, April 30th at 6pm MST where I’ll answer any questions you may have The prep call will last around 1 hour.

  • On this day we explore the two guardians of this direction of the Mayan Cosmology - both feminine and masculine - The Jaguar (Masculine Guardian) of the Sun, and the Grandmother of the Stars. The evolutionary cycle this direction covers is the inner child, so your at home practice will explore themes around innocence, wonder, and the earliest expressions of our spirit.

    Practices will be

Meet your guide

My name is Krystal, and I’m so excited to join you for this immersion.

This immersion was born out of more than a decade of studying Mayan cacao and cosmology, as well as Amazonian traditions. Since I started offering this space in 2022, I’ve had more than 100 students come through it and I am amazed by what this space opens up and heals for people. This has by far been my favorite offering, as it touches into some of the deepest depths with one of my favorite plant spirits, and the plant spirit I’ve been journeying with the longest in my life.

In terms of my experiential roots with cacao, I am a student of the late Keith Wilson, where I sat on his infamous porch for many years on and off, and studying closely with him 1:1. I have also spent extended time living on Lake Atitlán, sitting in ceremony with my teachers Walter, Nana Mimi, Ana Maria, and Sebastian, learning the ins and outs of holding sacred space within the context of Mayan traditions.

From 2019 to 2025, I was the Co-Founder of Kokoleka Collective, a ceremonial cacao business where myself and my business partner, Carlos, shared the magic of cacao with the modern world, with permission from our teacher, Keith Wilson. During those years, we hosted hundreds of cacao ceremonies, pilgrimages, facilitator trainings, immersions, and 1:1 sessions… it’s safe to say we had a lot of fun weaving with Mama Cacao in all the ways.

I received the template for this immersion from the cacao spirit herself, and it has been an incredible journey to watch the beauty of this work unfold.

I’m excited to see how this template continues to reveal itself to me, and am equally excited to see how your presence here helps shape that.

The seed has been planted inside you heart & love is the water that feeds. With love eternally it will grow, my mother she makes it so
